Overview
Join master cookie artist Ebony Kunkle and the Colorful Cookie for an immersive, hands-on workshop and friendly competition: build your own edible “home” inspired by the Longest Open House! Whether you’re a seasoned baker or a frosting-first novice, you’ll learn cookie-construction techniques, color styling tips, and creative candy-placement tricks—then put your skills to the test for fun prizes and bragging rights.
What You’ll Do
- Learn Cookie Architecture
– How to assemble pre-baked sugar-cookie “walls” and “roof” panels
– Techniques for frosting seams and securing pieces with icing “mortar”
- Master Color & Texture
– Mixing custom purple hues (and accent colors!) for the Longest Open House palette
– Working with macarons, cupcakes, éclairs, and candy to add dimension and flair
- Compete & Connect
– Apply your new skills to build a miniature “home” that reflects the spirit of the Longest Open House
– Share your creation in a friendly, supportive showcase
Competition Guidelines
- Dimensions & Structure
- Must include at least four “walls” and a “roof” section built from sugar cookies or gingerbread
- Materials
- Frosting , macarons, cupcakes, éclairs, candy pieces—use your imagination!
- Theme
- Incorporate the Longest Open House logo or purple-themed elements somewhere on your home
- Time Limit
- 60 minutes of hands-on building and decorating during the live class
Judging & Prizes
Entries will be evaluated on:
- Creativity & Theme (30%)
- Structural Integrity (25%)
- Use of Color & Materials (25%)
- Overall Presentation & “Hominess” (20%)
🏆 Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place include a feature on The Longest Open House social channels, and a gift certificate to Ebony’s online cookie store.
